Hi, I’m Tiffany Verbeck.
Welcome to my site. I’m so excited that you’re here, and I’m positive I can help you in your creative journey. Over the years, I have learned what helps and what doesn’t help to live a creative life.
And anyone can apply these tools to their life, even those of you living in the sticks.
Even if you’re only pursuing creative goals on the weekends, this is still a great stop for you.
I’m here to support you all exactly where you are.
A few things about me:
I was raised in Southern Indiana in the woods with only one neighbor nearby. We had a baby opossum named Don as a pet for about a month until he got too wily. I spent my time reading, writing Lord of the Rings spin-off stories, and running around among the trees pretending I was a Laura Ingalls Wilder.
My hometown is a former artist’s colony called Nashville, Indiana. Not to be confused with the more well known city in Tennessee. I grew up walking by the windows of leatherworkers and blacksmiths and glassblowers at work—and some of them are still in business today. My hometown is full of nature and isolation and beauty.
In 2011, I moved to Washington, D.C. to try to form a “serious” career. I worked in the international non-profit world for 6 years and recently decided a serious career was not right for me. So I quit (after I got married and had access to health insurance).
While working full time, I got a Master’s degree in creative nonfiction writing. This was through a low residency Stonecoast Program at the University of Southern Maine. I learned how to write quickly, edit effectively, and tell a damned good story. Oh, and I was introduced to a ton of resources for writing and creativity.
I recently launched a freelance writing business. I’m happy to share the ups and down of freelancing with you all as I go.
